Alberto Cortés

Alberto Cortés (° 1983) is director, writer and interpreter of his own output. He graduated in directing and drama from ESAD, Malaga, and of art history from UMA. In 2009, he began his stage career creating a hybrid, peripheral form of theatre, which has continued to develop over time. Endeavouring to maintain hope in the intangible, the spiritual and the human, his work has developed over the years through a variety of formats and disciplines (theatre, dance, performance, folklore – flamenco). His works treat the stage as a space for romantic desire and relationship with the spectators. Alberto Cortés also accompanies the creative processes of other creators through the staging and dramatic art. Alongside his stage work, he gives workshops in the form of gatherings where he shares his own research. In 2022, he published the book Los montes son tuyos with the Continta me tienes publications, which gathered together the texts of his works El Ardor and One night at the golden bar, and in 2024, Siempre vengo de noche which contains the text of Analphabet.
