Mang Tri Ray Dewantara
Mang Tri Ray Dewantara (° 2003) is a Balinese dancer and choreographer. He started learning Balinese dance at 7 years old, focusing on the Kebyar Duduk dance (a Balinese dance genre that explores sitting and squatting positions). Since 2016, Mang Tri learned from the maestros of Kebyar Duduk and intensively compiled visual archives from the creator of the dance, I Marya. Beyond his interest in dance archives, he also traced the shift in body construction within Balinese dance, connecting past archives with current dance movements. His works explore the issue of standardization of bodies in Balinese dance, memory, and life cycle transitions. Mang Tri is a member of a performance creation laboratory platform called Mulawali Performance Forum, initiated by the Mulawali Institute. He completed his studies in the Dance Department of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Bali and teaches dance at Sanggar Tari Bali Lokananta.
