For the theatre project of Ça marche, we are looking for French speaking children – or children who can understand English – from 4 to 5 years old to be part of the performances during Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2023 (Brussels). 

Ça marche is a Barcelona-based performing arts company that performs both nationally and internationally, specialising in working with non-professional groups. The 2023 edition of Kunstenfestivaldesarts is hosting Los Figurantes, a creation of the company. The performance invites the spectators to observe a space in which a group of 3 children are freely playing. A series of quotes projected onto the stage, and not readable by children, leads the viewer to question the way adults imagine and read childhood. Children are not aware that a group of spectators is observing their games and will not see the audience.

There is no text to memorise, only simple, realistic, everyday, playful actions to perform. It is however very important to feel comfortable.

 

Schedule to keep in mind:

· On 27.05, 28.05 & 29.05: 3 rehearsals to schedule (+- 1h30 in the afternoon)
· Between 30.05 & 2.06: participation in 2 of the 4 performances at 19h, at Les Brigittines (precise agenda to be discussed)

 

The rehearsals will take the form of workshops, offering a series of dynamic actions always through play. It is only required that the children are willing to participate. Previous theatre or dance experiences are not necessary because they will mainly play and do what they want during the performance.
